In light of the recent events involving the random attacks on innocent bystanders in the Metropolitan MD/VA/DC area, it is with heavy heart that the Board of Directors of the Washington Area Girls Soccer League have decided to cancel the 28th Annual WAGS Rael Vodicka Memorial Tournament. This decision was not an easy one to make. For the first time in 28 years there will not be a WAGS tournament. Many long hours were involved in the planning and preparation for this event. We also know of the excitement many of you have felt in preparation to attend. We only wish that the circumstances were different. This decision was made as early as possible to accommodate the travel plans of our out-of-town guests.
It is the opinion of the WAGS Board of Directors, Tournament Committee and MSF that the lives of the players, parents, referees and volunteers are far more valuable than any soccer game or tournament.
The possibility of any reschedule or refund will be sent out to all teams at a later date.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support. All our prayers for a speedy resolution.
